Christine from If I Had Anything To Say nominated me for a Liebster Award. How cool is that? Half the time I'm not even sure anyone is reading so it absolute amazes me when this blog is recognized in any way, especially by fellow bloggers. Because I'm not a "niche" blog, this is more of diary/conversation, awards like this are so cool. I hope some of you all will stick around and join the conversation in my head that is Love, Peace and Hodson.
I'm going break up my award post into 3 separate posts if that's okay with you? You can read Part 1 here! That will keep this from being a really long post!
1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging back in 2003 maybe (?) over on Xanga. When I first started I was pseudo anonymous and writing half diary, half short stories. Young, wild and single I was having quite a bit of fun. I saw myself as Carrie Bradshaw (didn't we all?) and hoped that I would one day write a book. I still sorta write on the same premise though I am older, wiser and married. The material might not be as edgy but I hope it is still entertaining.
2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing would have to be the connection you can so easily make with others. When I write posts I write just like I talk. Sometimes if I am pouring my heart out I'll pretend I'm talking to "Mindy", my make believe friend. My hope is that I always keep my words honest and it isn't about writing to an audience. It's like that public speaking trick where you make eye contact with just one person. It helps keep me focused.
3. Did you have a childhood nickname that has stuck? What is it?
In my late teens my step dad started calling me Shug, after Shug Avery a character in Alice Walker's book The Color Purple. He still calls me that, and Laila is Lil Shug.
4. What hobby would you do more if you had more time to do it?
If I had an extra three hours a day I would split it equally between cooking, yoga and running.
5. What is your favorite movie?
If I had to pick just one it would the The Godfather. The whole series is fantastic, though the third is my least favorite but you need it to complete the saga. Deniro in the second movie is amazing as a young Vito Corleone or Brando as the older version - please don't make me choose! The story line is beautifully written but I feel that way about all of Mario Puzo's books.
6. Can you speak more than one language?
Besides "Exhausted"? No.
7. If calories were not a consideration, what's the thing you would eat most?
It most certainly would be cake, preferably with butter cream frosting.
8. What is your favorite season and why?
Always and forever, my favorite season will be Springtime. There is always something so refreshing about starting anew. The tulips breaking through the still cold mushy wet soil never fails to make me smile.
9. If you could do anything you wanted with your most favorite person for an entire week, what would you do/where would you go?
With Josh, in Fiji in those over the water bungalows.
10. Which would you rather do--fold the laundry, or iron the laundry?
I think ironing because at least it will get hung up and put away. Instead of staying folded in the basket until we have to wash it again because the cat has sleeping on it for the last 3 days.
11. If there were one person who lived before you who you could see & talk with for an hour, who would it be and why?
My Great-Grandmother. My Grandma has so much wisdom; I would just love to get a chance to see the woman who shaped her.
Great questions, Christine. I hope you all got to know me a bit better. Guess I better get back to my packing! Eek, can't believe we move in 3 days!!!
Wishing you lots of light and love,

Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions! Good luck with your move!!
